Rev. Bob Hill and family traveling through Oregon last October.

Dear FPC members and friends,

We are pleased to share that Monday night the FPC Session resoundingly approved the Search Team's recommendation to call Rev. Robert "Bob" Hill to be our bridge (transitional) pastor.

The Team reached our unanimous decision with prayer (ours and yours!) and the loving guidance of God and the Holy Spirit.

Rev. Hill is in demand: He is completing a call as Bridge Pastor at Maximo Presbyterian Church, where he shepherded the congregation through a hurricane damage rebuild. Next, he will be honoring his previous commitment to preach the Sundays in July at Hyde Park Presbyterian Church in Tampa.

He'll start his journey with us on weekdays on July 7, to begin to get to know us and the workings of First Church, including our partnership with St. Pete Primary School. His first Sunday in our pulpit will be August 2.

You can check out his full biography here. You might be interested to know he led another congregation through Joan Gray's The Sailboat Church, the same text our church studied to help us open our sails to the Spirit.

Rev. Hill is married to Rev. Stephenie Maddox Hill, who is active in the Presbytery of Tampa Bay, serves Lake Seminole Presbyterian Church as pastor and is director of clinical pastoral education with Advent Health. They have two children: Bobby, who just graduated Canterbury School of Florida and will be attending Stetson University in Deland in the fall, and Maddie, who will be a junior at Canterbury.

We are grateful to all of you for your prayers -- and love and dedication to FPC -- as we sail through this time of transition. Please join in celebration of this good news.

Your Bridge Pastor Search Team,

Mary-Linda Armacost, David Doeringer, Greg Helck, Cliff Smith, current elders; and Gretchen Letterman, clerk of session
