A Note from Robert
Dear FPC Family,
Thank you for your gracious response to the news of my new call at Eckerd College. The Session, Clerk of Session Gretchen Letterman and I are actively working with the Presbytery on the transition plan for the church. The congregation will receive updates from Gretchen or me as details become available. Below is an outline of the work currently under way, key dates, and future steps for our congregation:
· Identify a Bridge Pastor — The Presbytery’s Committee on Ministry will work with the Session to hire a bridge pastor (stated supply), usually for three to six months, to support the congregation immediately following my last Sunday. This work has begun, and we hope to have the bridge pastor in place by July.
· Congregational Meeting May 17 (following both worship services) — At this meeting, we will dissolve the pastoral relationship as per the Book of Order, effective June 7. Until after church services that day, I will serve as your pastor in every capacity.
· Robert’s Last Sunday — June 7 at First Presbyterian Church of St. Petersburg
· Sunday, June 14 — Rev. Sam Picard will preach.
· Sunday, June 21 and Sunday June 28 — Guest pastors will preach.
· Late Summer and Early Fall — The bridge pastor and Presbytery will assist First Presbyterian Church of St. Petersburg in discernment of next steps, which could include an interim pastor or an immediate search for the next installed minister.
As we move through this season of transition together, I am filled with gratitude for the ministry we have shared and with confidence in the future of this congregation. First Presbyterian Church of St. Petersburg is a community rich in faith, deep in commitment, and beloved by God. Please hold our church, the Session, and this transition in your prayers. I remain fully present and engaged in the life of this congregation through my final Sunday, and I look forward to the weeks of ministry we still share.
Grace and Peace,
Robert
